Uktena. It's the tribe symbol for the Uktena. Does this mean that Tommy and his lineage were or are of the Uktena tribe? I know that the others said that the information place was accessible to others, could someone else have marked the paper for some other reason? I don't know, we'll have to see if we can look further into this. Maybe we can figure that out while we figure out whether Terry's theories have any credence. He thinks that either Tommy or Charlie are actually the murderer.
Eventually, after we all filled each other in on what we had done or what had happened while we were on our own, Lee decided that he wanted to go to Tommy's house (not his mother's, but his house) and check out everything that was in the building. The others all tried to tell him that they had already checked it out but he still wanted to see for himself. And, I'll admit, I was curious as well. Diane still wanted to leave someone at Tommy's mother's house, in case something happened, so Morrison was volunteered; though he was supposed to have Desna, a pack mate I haven't met yet, show up to be his back up.
Once that was set, away the rest of us went.
On the ride over to Tommy's house (why in the love of Gaia are my packmates obsessed with this metal cage on wheels?!), Lee and myself were filled in on a few more of the details pertaining to the murders. The others told us that Tommy was murdered outside of his house and there was no trace of a taint. Charlie, however, was murdered in his bathroom and that was where they discovered a taint as well as the grub they had told us previously about.
Once we pulled up to the building that they said was Tommy's, I jumped out of the metal box; the last thing I want to do is stay in that thing for longer than necessary. Diane and Kari decided to stay within the vehicle (excuse me while I shudder) and they let Terry, Lee and myself go to check out the building. I was ready to just walk right into the place but both of the men explained to me something about the little false plastic suns surrounding the building being an alarm of some kind. They called them 'lights'. Before we could even venture forward any further, Lee halted us. He was suspicious that there was some kind of new alarm; even though the door behind the building didn't have any of the false suns above it.
It took us several moments of looking around the perimeter of the building before we figured out that the best way to actually investigate the inside of the building was to make it so that the false suns didn't go off. The first puzzle was how to get through the false lights, without setting them off, and into the small glass door, we could see leading to the depths of the building. Ultimately, the decision was that we could access it from the Umbra, come back over, and then turn off the suns and whatever other alarm there was. Terry and Lee decided to go, as I didn't know what it was we needed to be looking for. But then.....well that didn't go as planned.
Terry, it seemed, couldn't make it over into the Umbra. Which left Lee down there alone; and that made me feel uneasy. While I'm sure he can handle himself.....he is still missing a limb and that doesn't help instill confidence that he can be somewhere potentially dangerous without the help and protection of his packmates. After several long moments of seeing nothing happen, I dragged Terry over so that he could keep an eye on the glass door in case Lee showed up but also so that I could still see him as I went to talk with Diane. I didn't want Lee alone but I also didn't want to leave Terry on his own either.
Ultimately, I ended up switching over to the Umbra and going to find Lee; who I noticed had shifted to Crinos for one reason or another. He told me that he was stuck in the Umbra, because of course another thing would try and go wrong for us it seems, and that he couldn't turn off the fake suns. I had him tell me what it was I was looking for before I jumped out of the Umbra and went to take care of the electricity. When I came out of the Umbra I came face to face with several boxes; oh joy. So I went for the one with the door, like Lee had said, and saw a whole lot of these switch like things. Fooling around with them, especially when I had no idea what I was doing, would have taken too long so I shifted my claws out and all but destroyed the boxes.
There was a really bright flash and my entire arm went tingly numb; and when I could see again I saw that there were scorch marks going up my entire forearm. I'm sure that'll hurt come morning, but for the moment I couldn't quite feel it.
Without really thinking, I came out of the house and explained the situation with Lee to Diane; she reminded me that I could pull Lee from the Umbra, so I was getting ready to do that. Kari asked me before I could go away how I had turned off the electricity. My answer?
'I fixed it.'
After that it was a matter of pulling Lee from the Umbra and then going back into the house to unlock the door for the others to come in as well. Diane and Kari still stayed in the metal box, so it was just me and the boys again. After that, I hunted down the rat that had scurried away from me as I came up from the pit of the building. I asked Lee to put it in his bag for later, but he left it behind; I'm a bit sad about that.
Within the building, Lee, Terry and Myself found pictures, some metal box and some flat electronic item that Lee insisted we bring with us as well. Just as we were going to look further, there was a bunch of flashing of blue and red; the other two started getting anxious and nervous, so that lead to me being anxious. We quickly went out the back of the building, through the door with no fake sun on it, and waited until the lights went away. I was worried for a moment when I saw our metal box with Kari and our alpha go away as well, but it meant the other metal box with lights, the police the others explained (lizard police again!?) went away as well. Once they were all gone, I went to walk on the hard sidewalk beside the road.
I didn't want to be in the building if the lizard police came back to double check the dwelling that they had seen our metal box outside of. Apparently one of the lizard police (?) recognized Kari as having been to the building the last time. So, we just started walking towards the hotel place that the others were staying at.
When we saw them again, they had Morrison with them as well. Apparently Desna didn't show up and he was on his own for the span of time we weren't with him. Morrison explained that there was a fight within the house of Tommy's mother and she had stormed out. He broke into a 'garage' type building and stole a metal box to follow her. He said he got all the information needed to find the metal box she was driving but that he lost her because his metal box was screeching loudly (the alarm, he said?) and he had to pull over to get rid of it. Morrison mentioned that he also ran into the police but that they let him go. Then we all went back to the hotel.
At the hotel the others worked to open up the metal box that Terry, Lee and myself had retrieved from Tommy's building. They explained that they found his passport and some other identification documents. After that they all wanted to leave the hotel place and Lee offered for us all to stay at his den. Our alpha let him drive with the warning:
'If I lose my arm, I'll take your other one.'
There was some grumbling from the others about the fact that their buzzy little technoloy boxes were showing the wrong dates, but other then that we all got into the metal box on wheels and drove the two hours (TWO HOURS!?!?!?!?) of fidgety hell (at least for this pup) to Lee's den on the reservation.
